Xiaomi entered into its own niche of entry level smartphones with the Redmi 4A that promises cheap and reliable everyday phones with conservative design and features. Now, the company has made a follow up to the popular 4A with the 5A, which will offer improved specifications and a very long battery life.
According to NDTV’s report, the phone has a metal-like matte texture that is supposed to be lighter than metal. It will not have a fingerprint sensor this time around as well, but features rounded corners for better phone grip. A standout feature that Xiaomi has been advertising for the phone is the existence of an 8-day lasting battery, which will pleasantly surprise buyers looking for a phone that can be continuously used.
Spec-wise, the phone features a 5-inch HD display with a pixel density of 296ppi. The phone will also be powered by the quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor which is clocked at 1.4GHz, combined with 2GB of RAM. As of now, Xiaomi is offering only one variant of the phone but it is expected to launch multiple other variants in the near future. The variant we will have as of now will come with only 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD. The dual SIM phone is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery that contributes to its long lasting charge.
According to reports, the phone will be available for a price of just CNY 600, which comes to about $100. In terms of optics, it features a 13MP main camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 5MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0. Video recording here is topped at 1080p @ 30 frames per second. For the price, the phone is one of the best considerations that buyers can look forward to if they want a cheap and reliable phone. Currently, it is available for pre-orders, but only in China via the popular online retail stores. When it will make its appearance off shore is not confirmed as of yet.
