Xiaomi Mi Max 2 rumors: Spotted on GFXBench with 6.4-inch screen; processor could be Snapdragon 626

Xiaomi has been working on a successor to the Mi Max smartphone for quite a period of time. The device now has been reportedly spotted on GFXBench database with the codename “Oxygen”.

The Xiaomi Mi Max was launched in China in May last year

The GFXBench listing confirms many of the specs that were rumored earlier. To start with the display, you have a 6.4-inch Full HD screen and it has a resolution of 1920x1080p.

For pictures, there is a 12MP rear facing camera with phase detection autofocus and an HDR mode, and a 5MP front shooter for selfies.

The specs very much looks identical to the predecessor Mi Max. However, there is a major upgrade on the processor front. On Mi Max 2, you have a Snapdragon 626 SoC. Battery will be a 5,000 mAh juice pack.

Performance can only be good with the 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The device further runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 8 on top. According to GSMArena, the device will cost anywhere between CNY 1499 and CNY 1699 ($215 to $245).

While the release of the phablet could take longer, Xiaomi is soon to release Xiaomi Mi6 which has been in the works for some time.

Xiaomi could make the announcement on either April 11 or April 18. A Mi6 leak earlier this month suggested the device will come with a 30MP rear camera. We are not sure if that is a possibility. However, other specs appear probable.

Mi6 is reported to sport a 5.15-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The Mi6 will be equipped with a 4,000 mAh for power.
