Nokia is making a comeback. For several weeks rumors are swirling over an Android smartphone in the making dubbed Nokia D1C. New renders have appeared on Weibo that showed the device.

nokia-d1cThe images of the rumored Nokia D1C reveal the color versions being Black, White and Gold. The Black and White versions could sport a metal frame and polycarbonate back cover, while the Gold model could feature an all-metal unibody design

The images could be fake, but we do know the device is in the making, thanks to a listing on benchmarking site AnTuTu.

The device apparently features a display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution, Snapdragon 430 chipset and Adreno 505 GPU. The hardware also includes 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. And the camera has the standard 13MP on the back and 8MP in the front for selfies.

It is also speculated that Nokia is working on a 13.8-inch tablet that will be released alongside the Android smartphones. Though Nokia fans eagerly awaited the release in 2016, we know that it is not a possibility. Expect the devices to be unveiled in the first half of 2017.

News reports also confirmed of a company called HMD Global that purchased the rights to manufacture, sell and advertise all Nokia smartphones. A report on Adweek states HMD Global will kick off a marketing campaign for the Nokia smartphones in early 2017.

“Nokia is a truly iconic, globally recognized and trusted brand. As the exclusive licensee of the Nokia brand for mobile phones and tablets, our ambition was to find a like-minded agency who grasped both the opportunity and responsibility in bringing a new product range to market,” HMD Global CMO Pekka Rantala was quoted saying.

He confirmed the earlier rumors that the company had selected popular ad agency Mother to spearhead the advertisement for the smartphones.
