Apple has been known for some fairly extravagant releases over the years when it comes to their devices. And this time around, there has been little to no hype surrounding their newest iteration of the iPhone 7 variants, mostly because not much has changed under the hood apart from just the color of both the iPhone 7 and the 7 Plus. For those who are considering opting for this flamboyant, bright red color, here are six features that should be convincing enough.
It’s red
Aptly called the RED Special Edition iPhone 7, the shade of red is bright, with a smooth aluminium finish that will join the likes of the regular color variants such as black and metallic shades that are currently available on the market.
Customers will get to fight against AIDS
The phone’s color has been, since inception, come out of the long-term partnership between Apple and the Product RED AIDS charity, who Apple has been donating to generously for the past 10 years, accumulating over $130 million in contributions. Customers will be glad to know that they will be a part of a path-breaking movement against the spread of AIDS by purchasing one of these new iPhone 7 models under this banner.
The same reliable iPhone experience
Apart from its skin, there isn’t anything else that separates this iPhone variant from the others. It will be available in 128/256GB variants and will also be available on stores and online as well. There won’t be any exclusivity towards buying this particular model, which is a good thing, since a lot of users will want to get their hands on such a vibrant color.
Pricing
The new RED Edition of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will come with a starting price tag of $749, which is fairly the same cost of the current generation of iPhones out there today. It’s good to see that Apple is not taking advantage of the exclusivity and treating this color option as just another addition to its line-up. The only exception here being that 100 percent of the proceeds in sales will go towards the global fund in order to fight against AIDS.
Availability
The RED variant will be available from March 24 onwards, with shipping starting at March end to the US and 40 other countries for now. By April, the phone should be made available in other places like Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK and United Arab Emirates. Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India, Turkey and more.
Free set up
Customers who purchase the RED Edition iPhones will be offered a free personal setup in-store online so they can configure their email, calendar and other apps. It is also possible to avail this iPhone through Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Program as well as the iPhone Trade-Up program.
