Global lifestyle and connected accessories giant Fossil is going big in 2017. The American company has announced it is planning to release 300 new smartwatches and fitness trackers this year.
In addition to Fossil, you will see smartwatches from a range of brands that include Diesel, Emporio Armani, Michael Kors and Misfit. They will all run on Android Wear 2.0 and will pack high-resolution full-AMOLED displays.
According to a press release, the Fossil Group will be introducing smartwatches across 14 brands. It is showcasing its latest designs at Baselworld, the popular watch and jewelry fair, held in Basel, Switzerland.
New Fossil Group brands that are reportedly entering the wearables space in 2017 include DKNY, Marc Jacobs, MICHELE, Relic and Tory Burch. Under the Fossil brand, you will see two slimmer and feature-packed models called the Q Venture and Q Explorist, coming in Fall 2017.
The upcoming touchscreen smartwatches will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor and will be compatible with both iOS and Android phones.
“Many of our brands that first entered the wearables space less than a year ago are now branching out with new styles, colors and types of wearables, all showcasing the perfect fusion of fashion and technology,” said Greg McKelvey, chief strategy and digital officer, Fossil Group.
Fossil entered the smartwatch market in late 2015. Till date the company has released more than 150 smartwatches, hybrid smartwatches and fitness trackers throughout 40 countries.
“Our unrivaled speed to market is only possible through our relentless investments in innovation, our unmatched scale and operational capabilities, and our strong partnerships with the world’s most admired fashion brands,” said McKelvey.
