ZTE’s ultra-budget smartphones have all the right internals that are worth giving a second look, especially for those looking for entry-level gadgets. The Chinese smartphone maker has just released a decently spec’d smartphone in its home country that is just $105 and will feature an octa-core processor under the hood.
The phone will feature a 5.2-inch 1080p screen and will be available exclusively in China for the time being for just CNY 700 on JD.com. The phone is said to be a successor to another smartphone launched in 2016 by the company – the ZTE A2, with updated specifications instead. The phone also now features 3GB of RAM and 32GB if internal expandable storage, via the dual-SIM, microSD hybrid compartment. What’s more is, the phone’s build is impressive as it features a metal frame, keeping things sturdy and in place.
Adding to the list of specification for $105, the metal unibody of the phone also houses a fingerprint scanner at the back, under the camera module. There is also no physical home button on the front. The power packed inside the phone is an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor clocked at 1.3GHz. As far as optics are concerned, the phone has a 13MP rear-facing camera with an LED flash. Camera mods include panorama, HDR as well as PDAF. The selfie camera up front comes in at 5MP with an aperture of f/2.2.
Keeping the phone on is a non-removable 2540mAh battery. Connectivity wise, the phone comes with 4G VoLTE, Micro-USB port, 3,5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and also supports Wi-Fi hotspot. The phone will be available in Deep Gray and while China does get to be the first to experience this value-packed smartphone, whether the rest of the world will get to enjoy its perks is yet to be seen as no announcement has been made.
The phone will officially go on sale on Friday, September 8. ZTE’s Blade series is one of the brand’s most popular lines, with the Blade A2 Plus being the last phone in the series being released, back in early 2017, which featured a slightly more powerful spec-sheet, consisting of a 5.5-inch screen, 5,000mAh battery, the MediaTek MT6750T SoC, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. For the price, consumers will have little to complain about, considering that the phone’s design-language is quite conservative and re-iterated on numerous phones. Of course, buyers will have to make do without software updates in the future.
