Xiaomi Mi VR Play arrives in India, know price and features

Xiaomi’s virtual reality headset, the Mi VR Play, has been made official for consumers in India. It will be available for purchase starting December 21.

Weighing 208 gms, the Mi VR Play is equipped with a dedicated motion sensor that can guarantee up to 16 times higher sensitivity. It comes with a controller having touch interface and a nine-axis inertial motion controller.

Announced alongside Mi Note 2 on October 25 in Beijing, Xiaomi has a dedicated Mi VR platform for apps, videos, games and experiences. The library boasts over 30 VR apps and 500 panoramic videos at launch. It also includes 360-degree content from Chinese video portal YouKu and Conde Nast Traveller

The headset is designed to work with the latest generation of Xiaomi smartphones including the Mi 5 and Mi Note 2. Mi VR Play is wrapped in a lightweight, durable Lycra shell. It accommodates any phone with a screen size between 4.7 inches and 5.7 inches. The headset notably also features anti-reflective aspheric lenses.

Xiaomi will reportedly offer customized variants of the VR Play in denim, floral, leopard, camouflage, and user-generated designs. In India, the Mi VR Play is priced at Rs 999 ($14).
