Toshiba recently announced two different Windows 10 notebooks – a 13.3-inch notebook called Portégé X30 and a slightly bigger 14-inch TecraX40, that’s taken the XPS route and gone bezel-less. Both notebooks are thin and lightweight and are meant to showcase the company’s newest ventures into the thin-bezel and performance oriented segment.

The Portégé X30 is supposed to be lighter than its predecessor was by 13-precent and thinner by 11-percent. There is zero difference between both these models and have the similar dimensions and specs apart from the inch in difference in their screen sizes. Both feature FHD screens, and sport the latest 7th-generation Intel processors. They come with USB Type-C ports with power delivery and Thunderbolt 3 support. They also have a USB 3.0 port, HDMI and a microSD card slot.
Both models have Windows 10 Pro preinstalled with Windows Hello so they don’t need to log in with a password. This means they come with infrared cameras and fingerprint scanners as well, courtesy of Synaptics’ Natural ID fingerprint sensors. The fingerprint sensors are in-built into the touchpads. The bodies on these laptops come with a scratch-resistant magnesium alloy chassis along with Toshiba’s TouchBody design which is shock-absorbent tech, that integrates honeycomb reinforcement. And the color options are the same also.
Both systems come with Harman Kardon stereo speakers and DTS sound software as well. This makes them very difficult to look over compared to the competition out there right now. To make things sweeter, the Portégé series comes in a special trim under the name of X20W, which is a 2-in-one model. It will come with a 360-degree convertible FHD display and also supports Toshiba’s TruPen Wacom-based pen tech. It will be a good rival to the Surface Book when it is out, if the internal hardware is made to be challenging enough. Although the Portégé X30 and the Tecra X40 haven’t been officially given availability or pricing details yet, but the Portégé X20W will be available on the company’s website starting at $1,200. It will be available starting February.
