Japanese electronics company Sharp has launched a new smartphone dubbed Aquos R. It is a 5.3-inch display phone (2560x1440p resolution) with top of the line features.
Sharp launched the device for the Japanese market and it is probable that the company will introduce the device in other key markets.
The spec sheet reveals a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with Adreno 540 graphics and 4GB RAM. One of the highlights is the IGZO display that is HDR 10 compatible, bringing technology that allows for a wider range of color and luminosity.
A premium device in all sense, the phone carries the IPX8 and IPX5 rating, providing water resistance and highest level of protection. For storage, the phone has a 64GB internal memory. It also runs latest Android 7.1 out of the box. And power is drawn by a 3,160 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
Another USP of the device is the optics. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the sensors fitted on the phone. On the rear, you have a 22.6MP camera with CMOS sensor, Autofocus and LED Flash. There is also an impressive 16.3MP wide angle camera for selfies on the front.
Sharp Aquos R also boasts of artificial intelligence features. More details on the functions should be known soon. Meanwhile, Sharp is yet to confirm the price and global availability.
The latest launch comes just days after it launched the Aquos Z3 in Taiwan. It is a metal-clad device with 5.7-inch QHD display (2560x1440p), 1.8 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
It sports a 16MP shooter on the rear and 13MP for selfies on the front. The device runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and is backed by a 3,100 mAh battery. The Aquos Z3 succeeds last year’s Aquos Z2.
