Samsung Galaxy S9 pre-development already underway, codenamed ‘Star’

While the Samsung Galaxy S8 has only just begun taking over the smartphone arena and dominating the market, Samsung has already started development of its next flagship to be launched, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the S9 Plus, which are appropriately codenamed Star and Star 2.

The two units based on the next flagship model are set to have similar display technologies as their predecessors. This means that the phone will probably not have a bend-able screen as we have seen in some of Samsung’s earlier prototype promotions. We can, however, expect an improved Infinity Display design. It has also been cited that the company will be laying down the foundations for the development of the Samsung Galaxy S9 by working on a completely advanced component production period, meaning that production for the smartphone may start as soon as the end of this year.

Gizbot reports that Samsung may have gone with the codename “Star” for their new flagships since they are meant to be an example of Samsung’s shining new hardware and software capabilities. The company has not officially ensured any such confirmation regarding the rumors of the phones just yet, making it to early right now for speculation.

The Investor’s report suggests that Samsung is following on its predecessor’s footsteps in terms of the codename as the S8 was called the Project Dream, since it was one of Samsung’s executive’s dreams to overtake Apple. While no drastic additions or changes right now have been speculated over the phone, there will probably be a lot of hype in the coming months as to the build and internals that will be packed inside the phone, most probably being the next Snapdragon flagship processor at the time.

Samsung would want to start its project for development for the next iteration of its flagship line since the company will be able to focus on quality control. The new flagship is also expected to carry on the tradition of ditching the home button and going for an all-screen front for the phone. It has been rumored that Samsung will employ its version of the Apple’s force touch technology into its new Galaxy S9 on the entire display.

Samsung has also similarly named its Galaxy S8 Active as “Cruiser” to reflect the phone’s ability to cruise through multiple environments and states. Going by the name “Star”, it seems like Samsung is going to go beyond the current trends that follow in the world of smartphones. Let’s hope their next flagship is just as, if not better than their currently released version.
