The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are going to revolutionize display tech if the latest leak is anything to go by. It has been confirmed by Evan Blass, leak extraordinaire from Venture Beats, that the Galaxy S8+ will have a 6.2-inch display, with rounded corners.
In his tweet, Blass shows a spec sheet of the device, with a list of possible features to expect. From the looks of the image shared, it could easily be a screenshot taken from one of Samsung’s official documents, or it could well be doctored entirely. The display will be a QuadHD+ Super AMOLED panel and will be the biggest screen that Samsung will have ever put on their Galaxy line-up. Whether there will be a curvature on either side of the screen like the Edge displays is yet to be seen. But seeing as the screen will have rounded corners, it seems unlikely.
Other details about the phone which have surfaced is that the flagship will consist of a 12MP dual pixel main camera, and most likely it should be retained on the original Galaxy S8 as well. The front of the phone will feature an 8MP camera. There will also be an Iris scanner for extra security along with 64GB if internal storage, coupled with 4GB of RAM. Storage is expandable, and the phone will also come with special earphones that are tuned by AKG. As is now standard on all flagship Samsung phones, the S8 and S8+ can be assumed in being IP68 water and dust resistant.
There will be wireless charging support as well, since the previous generation of the handset had made it popular among users. Perhaps this time around there will be a faster charging time? Of course, the wireless charger won’t come pre-bundled, but will be sold as a separate accessory. On the battery front, the S8+ is rumoured to have a 3600mAh battery which should be plenty of battery life available for the power user.
What we know for certain is that the new S8 line-up will feature the latest Snapdragon chipset – the Snapdragon 835. The standard S8 variant will come with a smaller 5.7-inch display along with most of the similar features. We aren’t sure whether this variant will include the rounded-corners on the display however. The Samsung S8 is rumoured to also be a little cheaper than the Pixels and the iPhones out there, which will be a trend that a lot of users will be looking forward to experience.
