What was first known to become the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2, has now become known as the Xiaomi X1 and this confirmation has come about thanks to the surfacing of some new leaks that show the phone in its complete glory. While the Redmi Pro 2 is an entirely different project now, the focus will be on the new kid on the block – the X1.
The images were first provided by Kumato Technology, a well-known leakster in the Chinese smartphone space on the popular social app Weibo. The leaked images revealed the specifications and the pricing of the new Xiaomi X1, along with details about how the phone itself will look, leaving very little to the imagination for consumers at this point. Based on the leaks, the phone will feature a Snapdragon 660 processor from Qualcomm and will come with a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. The leaks also show that the phone will come with dual cameras on the back and possibly the same dual camera setup on the front as well.
Reports state the phone will also have a display that will be similar to the FullVision Display found in LG’s G6 and will come with an aspect ratio of 2:1, meaning that there is a possibility of the phone coming with a narrower screen and also bezel-less. The leaked renders of the phone had one flaw in them, however – which was the exclusion of the LED flash near the camera, which indicates that the renders were probably not the final design or are either not based on the device itself. In fact, the report further adds that upon confirmation, these renders are simply fan-made concepts and are not the real thing. It will then, be a while before the phone actually does become official.
The X1 will come in two variants. The standard model will feature 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of storage options, costing $294 to $339 for the 64GB option and $368 to $412 for the 128GB option. There is a full-screen model that is going to be a little more expensive than the 4GB variant, which will instead have 6GB of RAM with the 64GB option costing $339 and the 128GB option will set users back $412. Currently, the phone’s expected date of release is to happen by the end of this month and that there will be a regular screen model and a full display model (like LG’s FullVision).
