LG G6 Mini now called the Q6, will feature FullVision display and Snapdragon 430

Recent rumors have been suggesting that LG has been working on a smaller LG G6 smartphone and now some evidence has cropped up that hints towards an imminent release, which has been officially announced by the company that the phone will release on July 11.

According to latest reports, the phone is not going to be called the G6 Mini, however, but will instead be called the Q6. This comes after LG had unveiled a new video on YouTube with the caption “A full, exQuisite view is what you need. Q-rious? July 11th. Coming soon.” The video also mentions the phone’s FullVision feature as well as the almost bezel-less design; both of which can be found on the original LG G6. This could mean that the phone will come with the same display aspect ratio which is a super-wide 18:9, but with only a smaller screen being the main difference here.

Based on a leaked GeekBench test, the phone can be expected to come with the same QHD+ resolution as the G6. The screen, however, would be a little over 5-inches, with an approximate size of 5.4-inches in size. The Q6 is also expected to come with a 1.4 GHz octa-core processor – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 with 3GB of RAM. And instead of supporting dual-cameras like its flagship sibling, this one will receive only a single 13MP sensor on the back. Another leak indicates that the phone will be shipped first to Poland, which is one of LG’s favorite markets.

There has not been any indication of pricing or availability just yet, apart from being released in Poland first, but all of those details will probably surface during the official unveiling of the LG GQ. Considering that many have believed this phone to be the mini LG G6, most fans will be disappointed at the drop in specifications from a Snapdragon 821 chipset to a Snapdragon 430, which will put the GQ in the mid-range sector of the smartphone space. LG have not officially noted that it will be a miniaturized LG G6, but for the power hungry, they will probably be able to look forward to the LG G6+ and the new V30 that is reported to hit the shelves later this year. Having said that, the display will be the most notable feature that users will be buying the phone, and if offered at the right price point, LG’s Q6 will be forgiven of not abiding by its lineage’s penchant for flagship specifications.
