What phones to expect from Nokia’s 2018 release line-up

Nokia looks like it going to have a big year this 2018. We might get to see quite a few new Nokia devices to hit its current line-up. All in all, we might see a few new mid-ranger, a new flagship, as well as HMD’s first ever Android Oreo Go Edition smartphone to hit stores. We could see well over 6 new Nokia phones to be released this year, with quite a few of them being released in the first half of the year.

We can expect the Android Go running Nokia phone to be the Nokia 1. In a teardown of the company’s latest camera app for its smartphones, it was uncovered that we will be seeing a Nokia 4 and Nokia 7 Plus coming soon as well. We will also be seeing the Nokia 6 (2018), the Nokia 8 (2018) and the Nokia 9 releasing this year. Nokia will not only be introducing new phones but will also be refreshing existing models for the year as well. We do know that the Nokia 7 Plus will feature a bigger display, going by the name of the phone. What we know so far of the Nokia 1, is that it will feature an IPS LCD display with an HD resolution, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

Based on Gizmo China’s report, there is no indicator as of yet, as to the timelines of the releases of these respective smartphones, but at the most, we can expect all of the upcoming phones to come packed with newer processors. Nokia has been scheduled to launch the Nokia 9 on January 19. It should come packed with a bezel-less display at 5.5-inches, a Snapdragon 835 processor, dual cameras backed with Carl Zeiss lenses and Android Oreo 8.0 out of the box and a fingerprint sensor on the back. While this will be the first flagship for HMD Global of the year, we doubt this will be the only one, as it is too soon to expect the Snapdragon 845 to be released in a smartphone this soon in the year. We will keep our eyes peeled, however, as Nokia may just surprise us!

According to Phone Arena, January 17 will see the release of the new Nokia 6 and the Nokia 8. While the dates are not official, some major release should happen before the month ends. Nokia will aim on bringing the competition something to worry about with more radical design compared to its conservative approach last year.
