It has been made official. The new Nokia 8 will be announced next month, after Nokia already launching three phones this year. Its fourth, the Nokia 8 will be one of the most anticipated of this year yet, as it will be offering flagship specification and will really show what Nokia’s mettle is when compared to the cream of the crop in the smartphone world.
HMD Global will be hosting a press event on August 16 in London at 7:30 local time where it will be officially revealing the Nokia 8 smartphone. On the official announcement of the phone, a number of speculations and rumors will be eagerly confirmed for fans, who have hoped that the phone will have a QHD display and other flagship features.
Based on all the speculations made so far of the phone, it is rumored to feature a 5.3-inch screen, a front-facing fingerprint scanner and rear dual-cameras at 13MP resolution and Zeiss optics. Powering the phone in terms of performance will be the Snapdragon 835 coupled with 4GB of RAM, which should make it sufficient enough to take on the market leaders from Samsung, LG, HTC and OnePlus.
There would be a new color variant of the Nokia 8, coming in a copper-gold color which looks a lot like a chocolate bar. From earlier reports and leaks, it was seen that the other two colors the Nokia 8 will come in are blue and silver. For the event to be held later in August, Nokia has already reportedly started sending out invites to media personnel.
In addition to featuring 4GB of RAM, there could also be a variant where the phone will come with 6GB and with storage options ranging from 64GB to 128GB. The device will also have dual-SIM card slots, which will make the phone a hit in Asian countries.
The invite mentioned that HMD Global will “unveil the next milestone for Nokia phones” at the upcoming event, which could mean that Nokia may surprise us with some new features that had not earlier been speculated upon just yet. While it is more or less confirmed that the Nokia 8 will be a flagship-grade device, whether it will come with some extra functionality, such as HTC’s Edge-Sense or Samsung’s multiple additional features, could be a possibility. The Nokia 8 is also expected to be more sensibly priced than its counterparts when it releases.
