Nokia 6 Latest: Pre-orders cross 250,000 within 24 hours

HMD Global had already managed to create a growing buzz on its first Android smartphone, the Nokia 6. Adding to the popularity is the latest report on the massive pre-orders it has received.

The Nokia 6 has apparently managed to cross 250,000 registrations within 24 hours it went live. The phone will reach consumers starting January 19. The device has been priced at 1,699 yuan ($246).

Featuring a 5.5-inch full HD display, the mid-range device boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The camera department has a 16-megapixel F/2.0 sensor on the back and 8-megapixel F/2.0 sensor on the front.

The Nokia 6 launches on Android 7 Nougat and is backed by a decent 3000 mAh battery. The 4G-enabled pone supports Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS and USB-OTG. Not to forget the home button in Nokia 6 which doubles up as a fingerprint sensor.

HMD Global is a Finnish firm that owns the rights to sell Nokia-branded smartphones. It is said to working on four new smartphones with a wide range of display sizes.

Nokia 6, meanwhile, will be available exclusively in China through JD.com. An international model could launch at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February.

There are also rumors about Nokia 8, another premium smartphone which could release on February 26 – the date of MWC. On its official Facebook page, Nokia had hinted on “more announcements to follow on February 26″. With just over a month more, Nokia fans can keep their fingers crossed.
