Moto E4 and E4 Plus rumors: Core features, price and launch details revealed

The Mote E series of smartphones by Motorola was always considered to be the littlest sibling of the lot, with near entry-level specifications and a smaller screen. This year, that might all change for the upcoming Motorola E4.

Well known leakster @evleaks had posted a picture of the device on Twitter

Based on reports, the Motorola E4 and its companion, the E4 Plus will both come with Android Nougat 7.1 with the smaller of the two featuring a 5-inch display with an HD resolution, while the bigger one comes fitted with a 5.5-inch display of the same resolution. Both variants will feature 2GB of RAM with 5MP cameras on the front of the phone while the E4 will come with an 8MP snapper on the back and the E4 Plus will come with a 13MP camera at the rear. It is also expected that both phones will be powered by the MediaTek MT6737M quad-core ARM Cortext-A53 processor. Hopefully, the performance should not be limited since we are usually used to seeing a Qualcomm chipset on the Moto line-up all these years.

The biggest surprise in this year’s model is the battery size. While the standard E4 will feature the same 2,800mAh battery as last time, the E4 Plus will feature a whopping 5,000mAh battery. Added to that, apart from having a 2GB variant of E4 Plus, a 3GB variant might also be available. Fortunately, to make up for the lack of internal storage, the phones will be outfitted with a microSD card slot for expandability.

Some might be disappointed by the lack of any hard-hitting features here, but then they would be missing out on the key word – economy, which E stands for. These two variants will be the best entry-level options to consider once they are out and considering that the E4 Plus’s battery size and extra Gigabyte of RAM will be deemed tempting, buyers will not need to look anywhere else. Both phones are set to launch in Europe first, with a price of 150 Euros for the E4 and 190 Euros for the E4 Plus. Release dates for other parts of the world have not been announced just yet, but hopefully it should be released in the weeks that follow.

The news has not been officially revealed, but comes by way of leaks, courtesy everyone’s favourite leakster, Evan Blass. In terms of design, they will have the looks of the Moto G’s distinct styling which should probably make either indistinguishable from each other.
