LG G6 is official: Features, specs and pricing you should know

The much awaited smartphone of the season, the LG G6, was made official today at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. Though a lot on the features were revealed in various rumors, here are the official ones you should know.

The G6 has a 5.7-inch QHD (2880x1440p) LCD display configured to an 18:9 aspect ratio, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. With a minimal screen-to-bezel ratio and aluminium casing, the phone not only looks good, but also feels good. It comes in three colors – white, silver, and black.

Further, the hardware includes a Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of storage. Power is drawn by a 3,300 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

It is also IP68-certified for water- and dust-resistance. The device can be immersed in up to 1.5 metres of water for as long as 30 minutes. LG says the device passed 14 different military-standard 810G tests, so users can stave off worries of drops and rough environments.

The LG G6 is the first smartphone to feature Dolby Vision technology. It also supports HDR10 tech and will run on Android 7.1.1, with the latest iteration of LG’s G UI.

In terms of pictures, you have two 13MP dual cameras on the back, one with aperture f/2.4 and 125 degree view and other with f/1.8 and standard optical Image stabilisation (OIS). For selfies, there is a 5MP front camera with a wide viewing angle of 100 degree and an aperture of f/2.2.

G6 runs on LG UX 6.0 which provides various modes for shooting which include a snap shot, match shot, guide shot, grid shot and 360 degree panorama.

Weighing 163 grams, the premium device supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and USB Type-C 2.0. Other highlights of the phone include the Google Assistant and some treats for game lovers. The G6 is the second smartphone to come with Google’s AI assistant pre-installed. As for the game part, users get access to Temple Run 2, Spider-Man Unlimited, Crossy Road, SimCity BuildIt, Cookie Jam and Genies & Gems on Google Play for free.

LG hasn’t announced the price and availability of the device. But is likely that LG will price it around $650-$800 price range. It should also be made available by April.
