Lenovo has sold one million units of its modular smartphone Moto Z. On Sunday, the Chinese electronics giant released a promo that claimed the sales feat.

The Motorola Moto Z lineup also includes Moto Z Force and the Moto Z Play. Three Verizon exclusives were also released alongside.
First unveiled in September, the premium Moto phone has an all-metal body with 16 magnetic connector pins on the rear. Users can pin modules aka ‘Moto Mods’ on to the back via the connector pins.
You can turn the device into a Pico projector, add an extra JBL stereo speaker or the true zoom mod made by Hasselblad that allows for up to 10 X optical zoom. Moto Z has a bunch of mods that you can get as snap-on modules.
For a quick glance at the features, the Moto Z is incredibly thin at 5.19mm and sports a 5.5-inch quad-HD (2560×1440 pixels) AMOLED display. It comes with a 2.15GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory.
For camera enthusiasts, there is a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, laser autofocus, Optical Image Stabilisation and dual-LED flash, and 5-megapixel shooter for selfies. The dualSIM phone supports 4G LTE (VoLTE-ready), USB Type-C, OTG and NFC connectivity.
Lenovo is not the first to explore the modular smartphone concept. The LG G5 came before the Moto Z but dint turn out as successful. According to Korea’s Electronic Times, LG might soon even end the G5 production. Earlier, in September, we also saw Google abandoning its Project Ara modular initiative. Lenovo has taken up the challenge and is on the right track with its impressive achievement.
