iPhone 8 and 8 Plus launch may be worrisome for Apple

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus launch has been received with mix bag from consumers, mostly because they are either confused as to whether to buy the cheaper iPhone 8 models or dole out their money for the exclusive iPhone X experience. The new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus just went on sale on Friday, and while the hardware and software have so far been unprecedented in an iPhone, the turnover may be a little underwhelming, according to some reports.

This is the first time that Apple has split the launch of its titles. What may also contribute to the decrease in lines are the online sales and pre-orders of the phone. Apple’s flagship store in Sydney saw at the most, only 50 people in their longest line. First buyers are usually the ones to lead the lines, along with YouTube influencers and other similar fans. But it seems that they are now a dying breed, considering the convenience of pre-ordering and having it delivered at the buyer’s door-step.

While the 8 and 8 Plus are the cheaper options that do not sacrifice the core functions or specifications of the phone, the iPhone X, with its $1,000 starting price tag seems to be the popular choice.

According to CNBC, the launch has also affected the company’s shares as the company’s shares were down by more than five percent owing to the weak demand of the iPhone 8. Analysts did foresee that the shorter lines will be a result of the split in launch dates for the two different Apple phones to be released. It is likely that there will be more demand of the iPhone X in November when it launches, but if Apple will be able to control the number of units without running out is still in question.

The new Apple Watch series 3 has been sold out in many places around the world. The iPhone 8 models were also sold out in various stores across the world, but which ones exactly, have not yet been pointed out by the reports.

This could be an indicator for things to come by the end of the year, as there are still a few more launches in the smartphone world, to challenge the iPhone 8 and X’s price tag and specifications. The Pixel 2 phones will be one of the most anticipated Android releases to do so, when they also come out in November
