Huawei’s next big launch event is the Mate 10 series of smartphones, and while the internet knows what most of the phones in the series will look like and feature, there is not much left to the imagination. In the meanwhile, the company is continuing to release phones at home, with the newest, being the Nova 2i.
According to a report from Phone Arena, the Nova 2i looks the same as the Huawei Mate 10 Lite. The phone is also the same as the Huawei Mate 10 Lite in terms of specifications as well. The device has the same build and internals as the Mate 10 Lite, but is called a different name, owing to the different markets that the same device will be produced in. The phone was launched in China recently and will follow in the mid-range segment.
The Nova 2i comes with the Kirin 659 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The phone will feature a 5.9-inch FHD+ FullView display. At the back of the phone will be a fingerprint scanner, and the phone will be powered by a 3,340mAh battery unit. The front cameras will consist of a 13MP+2MP dual camera unit, while the rear dual camera setup is a 16MP+3MP combination. Just like with the Huawei Mate 10 Lite, the Nova 2i also looks to push the envelope in terms of camera performance and providing extraordinary bokeh effect for both front and rear dual-camera setups.
The phone will also come with Android Nougat 7.1 out of the box, with Huawei’s EMUI 5.1 layered over. There is a possibility that the phone will be upgradeable to Android Oreo as well. Considering the various resemblances to the Mate 10 Lite, it makes sense as to why the company would want to keep the launch of the Nova 2i low-key. While only available in China for now, it is not clear whether the phone will be made available to other markets as well, and if so, under what name Huawei will be selling it.
According to BGR, the phone is also available in Malaysia. The phone is available in Black, Blue and White as standard options. It is listed in the company’s Vmall website as of now for order but there has not been any confirmation regarding the device’s pricing and availability. For those interested to know when it will be available in their region, they can sign up on the website to be notified when the phone will be made available.
