Huawei’s much awaited Honor 9 phone is set to hit the market any time soon, and is expected to be placed in between the Nova 2 and the P10. Thanks to a promotional video that hit Weibo recently a few of the specs have been confirmed based on the leaks that have been surmounting around the phone.
The main feature that the Honor 9 will be showcasing, much like other phones nowadays, is its ability to shoot images via its rear dual-camera setup – 12MP + 20MP. This spec has been previously seen in the Nova 2 and the P10 models as well. Apart from the optics, it has been confirmed that the phone will also feature the Kirin 960 – the company’s most powerful chipset to date, putting the Honor 9 quite high in the premium segment in terms of performance.
According to reports, the phone is set to release on June 12, after many speculations from online sources and camera sample leaks. The smartphone has gone up for registration on the website GizmoChina and has revealed some of its key specifications, which include a 2.5D curved glass on the front and 6GB of RAM on the inside. Earlier TENAA listings indicated that the phone featured 4GB of RAM, meaning that the phone will come in a 6GB and 4GB variant. The phone is also said to feature a 5.15-inch 1080p display. Storage is backed by 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded to up to 256GB. The battery should also sport a beefy 3,100mAh unit and one of the newest features fan will come to see in the phone is the addition of the new Magic Live OS skin atop Android Nougat instead of EMUI, which has been a staple on most of the company’s phones so far. What may be a deal breaker for most will be the fact that a headphone jack will be absent from the device.
The phone will also feature some AI elements to its interface, owing to the new UI along with high-level security features that involve the scanning of eyes and hands. Despite it being without a headphone jack, it has confirmed that the company will be shipping the phone with high-quality magic earphones, which, if true, could be a good way to redeem the company. The phone will feature an 8MP front-facing camera and will have physical button up front. Keeping things premium and strong is the glass and metal build of the phone, that should make for an attractive option.
