Huawei Honor 8 Pro hits Europe, here are the core specs and features

The Honor V9 just hit Europe, apparently under the name of Honor 8 Pro. But it looks like Europe saw it coming as there were previous rumors hinting the same. The phablet is the latest in its category to arrive in Europe, and certainly one of the right choices for a budget device with a humongous battery life. The device, with its 4000 mAh battery life and a 6GB RAM that can overpower any game you throw at it, comes with a pocket-friendly price tag of €549.

Core Specs

Honor has launched the Honor 8 Pro in Europe

The Honor 8 Pro runs a serious powerhouse under the hood with the Kirin 960 SoC, complimented by the Mali-G71 graphics chipset and a LPDDR4 RAM that spans 6GB. The octa-core processor running Cortex-A73 top-shelf cores, an impressive SoC from none other than Huawei, is quite capable of what any phablet can do.

The 5.7” TFT LCD screen has a QHD resolution of 1440 x 2560. As for the camera, the dual-LED flash 12 MP primary camera has a f/2.2 aperture for its lens and features 4K recording at 30fps. The 8 MP secondary camera onboard the Honor 8 Pro also performs well as a selfie machine. However, the 3D modeling feature available in the V9 that lets user 3D print their pictures, is not present in the Honor 8 Pro, and instead, a “fluid VR streaming” feature is brought in along with a stock Jaunt VR app that has dozens of pre-loaded videos coming with it.

A battery to last the apocalypse

The battery is where the real bargain is. With a 4000mAh battery that can hold out for two full days under normal usage or 1.44 days under heavy usage, the battery capacity certainly hijacks the phablet department that consists of iPhone 7 Plus and the Galaxy S7 Edge. The interesting part is that even after a long day’s usage, the battery can be charged to its complete capacity in a mere hour and fifty minutes time.

The Honor 8 Pro houses dual-SIM slots and feature a fingerprint scanner. The device will run Android 7.0 Nougat with Honor’s EMUI 5.1 on the surface. Honor introduces Highlights in this device, a smart app that organizes images and creates video stories, by collaborating with GoPro. From April 5, the Honor 8 Pro will be available in the UK, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Spain in black, gold and dark blue colors. Honor is also throwing in a selfie stick tripod, and a 10,000mAh powerbank from Huawei or a 128GB microSD with Honor 8 Pro bundle.
