Huawei Honor 8, Honor 8 Smart and Holly 3 launched in India

India’s biggest festival Diwali is right around the corner and Huawei has released three smartphones to meet the holiday season demands.

Honor 8, Honor 8 Smart and Holly 3 are the three devices launched by the Chinese company on Wednesday. The Holly 3 retails at Rs 9,999 ($150) and is the first smartphone from the company to tout the made in India sticker. Honor 8 is priced at Rs 29,999 ($450) and Honor 8 Smart will retail for Rs 19,999 ($300).

Honor 8 is a successor to Honor 7 that was launched in October last year. The 5.2-inch HD display phone is powered by the Kirin 950 octa-core processor with a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU.

Other features include: a dual 12MP rear camera setup with laser autofocus and dual-LED flash, front camera of 8MP with a f/2.4 aperture and 3000 mAh non-removable battery. The device uses Smart Power 4.0 for fast charging.

The dual SIM phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and will be available in Sapphire Blue, Pearl White and Sunrise Gold color options.

The Honor 8 Smart is a more of a budget phone but with the same metal unibody design of Honor 8. The device sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display and is powered by Kirin 650 processor, paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. On the camera front, it has a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front shooter. The smartphone is backed by a 3,000mAh battery

As for the ‘Made in India’ smartphone Holly 3, the device has a 5.5-inch display and is backed by a 3100 mAh battery. Under the hood, it has Kirin 620 CPU coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The 4G device has a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front shooter.

“With this launch, we continue our India journey and promise to introduce even more high-quality, disruptive products in the market,” said Honor Mobiles president George Zhao.

Huawei recently announced that it will be manufacturing phones in India from October, in partnership with U.S.-based Flextronics.

The Flex manufacturing plant in Chennai is expected to produce up to three million units by the end of 2017. Huawei also said it is rapidly expanding its distribution and service network across the country.
