Huawei Band 2 and Band 2 Pro fitness trackers: Top 5 highlights

Huawei have just outed their newest fitness bands, the Band 2 and the Band 2 Pro. Both bands offer great features and will be competing with the regular fare of FitBit wearable devices out there and while the Band 2 Pro will have a few more features than the Band 2, here are the features that make this series wearables standout.

VO2 Max Measuring

The wearable allows the user to know exactly the maximum rate at which the wearers’ bodies can import oxygen and transfer that oxygen to their muscles for more energy. This seemingly complex statistic can be brought about by the device and should give the wearer an idea of how well their body is taking in Oxygen. The app’s VO2 measurements are reportedly 95 percent accurate.

Training Effect

Another feature that both the bands come with, is the Training Effect feature that measures and estimates the impact that a fitness session has on the wearer. This program can estimate the amount of time required to recover from the session before the user can get to the gym for the next work-out. This will be especially useful for those who like to follow a schedule and want to balance their training regimes so as to not over-work themselves when they are working out. It will also allow for the user to maintain a pace of working out that they are comfortable with.

A Life Companion

When both the bands have been paired with a smartphone, they can transmit alarms, notifications and messages to and from the devices which significantly helps in allocating usage to just the wearable itself, thanks to the nifty screen it comes with. Both bands are also able to withstand up to five atmospheres of water pressures, making them completely waterproof. Along with continuous heart rate monitoring, pace, speed, direction and distance the bands are the perfect life companion.

Pro Exclusive: TruSleep, Breathing Tracker, GPS and Running Coach

The Band 2 Pro features two systems that can monitor the user’s sleeping habits and breathing habits for regulating the user’s pace and energy. Through the GPS, users will be able to map out their runs or biking workouts. The Running Coach will provide the user with feedback and the necessary different kinds of exercises that they will need for improved performance and a more fulfilling workout through a set of exercise and training sessions.

Price and Availability

The two bands are not available outside of China just yet, but should make their way to international waters soon, owing to their popularity. The Pro version sells in Chine for roughly $57 and the standard version sells for roughly $44 which should amount to the same price when it reaches foreign availability.
