HTC introduced a new Desire handset today in Taiwan. The Desire 650 has a price tag of TWD 5,490 ($172). It is the successor of Desire 630 that was launched in February, this year.
Running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, this new device is for those seeking affordability and basic functionality. The spec sheet shows a lower mid-range device that measures 146.9 x 70.9 x 8.4mm and weighs 140 grams.

On the display, you have a 5-inch LCD screen with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution, protected by the Gorilla Glass laid on top. The Desire 650 is unique in a way that it contains a textured pattern on the back for providing added grip to the phone.
The chipset is yet to be announced, but expect a Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded upto 2TB. The camera department includes a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and aperture f/2.2, and 5MP shooter for selfies.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, A-GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. It includes a front-facing Boomsound stereo speakers and is backed by a 2,200 mAh battery. The device can last up to 29 days on standby mode and can give 18 hours of talk time.
To be launched in early December, Desire 650 will come in two color options – white and dark blue. The latest announcement comes just hours after the Taiwanese company launched the HTC 10 Evo, the global version of the Bolt, an exclusive device for U.S. carrier Sprint.
The features in HTC 10 Evo are more or less the same, with a 5.5-inch QHD screen and Snapdragon 810 SoC paired with 3GB of RAM. Storage options include 32GB and 64GB (expandable up to 2TB). The cameras consist of a 16MP main shooter and 8MP sensor for selfies. The phone is backed by a 3,200 mAh battery with support for Quick Charge technology.
As for the price, the base model retails for $564. Expect the device to hit store shelves on November 28.
