The Honor V9 from China is finally expected to make its presence felt in the international markets, in the guise of the Honor 8 Pro. The company had sent out a press release regarding the release of a new phone that it did not mention, but it seems to be apparent that the company will be outing the V9. The launch event of the phone will take place on April 5.
Huawei’s sub-division – Honor, is known for its premium and budget-friendly phones that match the performance with looks. There was no release at the MWC 2017 this year as well, which points to the fact that the company will, in fact, be releasing their V9 smartphone to the masses this time around. The to-be-released Honor 8 Pro will feature a bunch of impressive specs, such as: QHD 5.7-inch LCD display; Kirin 960 processor; 4GB and 6GB RAM variants; 64GB and 128GB storage variants with expandable storage.
The optics are also touted to be impressive, with the phone supposedly coming with a dual-lens setup thanks to two 12MP cameras on the rear with 4K video recording as well as monochrome shots. The phone will also be able to produce 3D models with the cameras thanks to some proprietary software, perhaps. This will enable users to print those models using a 3D printer. The phone will also feature a 4,000mAh battery and will come with Android Nougat out-of-the-box.
Phandroid speculates that the pricing will be the most predominant factor of the phone’s success in the international market, with the United States, being the most lucrative. They believe that the 4GB/64GB variant will come in at $377; the 6GB/64GB variant will cost $436 and the 6GB/128GB variant will come in at a price of $508.
The V9 has enjoyed great success in China and Honor seem to be riding high on that success. Thanks to a tweet by @rquandt, the phone will be available in the following colours: gold, blue and black. The phone is a big deal, since it features some of the best specs in the world for a price that is also quite competitive. The Kirin has proven its mettle before and this time around, we are not expecting anything different from Huawei’s homebrewed processors. It will be interesting to see how Honor will stir up the competition when it is finally announced to the world, come April 5.
