According to reports, the Dell XPS 13 and 15 series laptops unveiled recently will come with fingerprint sensor, enabling Windows Hello. For those who want that extra bit of security, they can place their order and ask to add the sensor. The Dell XPS 15 is a powerhouse of a laptop, featuring up to a quad-core Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU, NVIDIA GTX1050 and up to 32GB of RAM. It was not clarified before whether the system will support Windows Hello or not, but now, the news is finally out.

The upgrade can be availed for an increment of just $25 from the original pricing which adds the convenience of seamless logging on the Windows system, according to Laptop Mag. Lots of buyers were also anticipating this move by Dell and were holding off on purchasing an XPS machine for themselves. Now that Dell has confirmed the arrival of a fingerprint sensor, the company will see a surge in orders for the workstation-grade laptop. The system itself has been praised widely for its usability, the bezel-less screen and the performance.
The Verge reports that this upgrade will be compatible with all versions of the XPS 13 and 15 series which means even the entry level spec’d models will come with this useful function. The fingerprint sensor will be built into the keyboard for users to access. The price for upgrading to this tech is also on par with outside solutions so users will not need to sacrifice space in order to get the best out of Windows Hello. For those who have already made their pre-order to Dell, they can contact the company and ask for the upgrade to be made right now.
Many premium notebooks out there today, feature Windows Hello nowadays and with the XPS series possibly not featuring them did not seem right. Why Dell took this long in order to confirm whether there would be a fingerprint scanner to come with the laptop or not has not been clarified by the company, as many users might feel left out unknowingly if they were to receive the notebook before the delivery period. Even renderings of the model in website listings before did not mention the presence of a fingerprint scanner.
Hopefully, everyone who has made a pre-order will get the memo about including the fingerprint scanner before they receive delivery of their product so that they don’t miss out otherwise.
