Huawei is planning to introduce a new budget smartphone in the United States. The source of this information is a new listing on benchmarking site GFX Bench.
Though the device does not have name, the listing reveals the model number as “MYA-L03”. Created on February 3, the device appears to launch with an older Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
Folks at GSM Arena suggest the device is the Huawei Maya which could be priced between $100 to $150. There is no official word on the anonymous device or the specs.
Specs on ‘Huawei Maya’
Based on the leaks, we have some details on the hardware. The Huawei Maya could be powered by a MediaTek MT6737T processor (a quad core unit clocked at 1.44 GHz), along with 2GB RAM.
Thanks to an FCC listing last year, it was revealed the device will have two versions. The second one is expected to have a 2,920 mAh battery and offer support for 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
The FCC listing was created on December 28, 2016. Interestingly, the filing also suggests the first will be a single SIM unit, while the second one will be a dual-SIM. The latter was codenamed “MYA-L23”.
MWC Launch
Huawei will be among other smartphone makers that will be holding a press conference on the sidelines of Mobile World Congress. Two highly anticipated devices, Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus, will be introduced during the pre-MWC conference on February 26.
The P10 will be a 5.5-inch display phone powered by in-house HiSilicon Kirin 965 SoC, along with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage. The P10 would launch in three storage variants. There is also an indication of a 12MP dual camera setup featuring Leica lenses.
