Here is how you can get prescription glasses for Snap’s Spectacles

Prescription lenses for Snap’s Spectacles is now at your fingertips. The wearable with an in-built camera was just a sunglass until now. With prescription glasses, you can see with style no matter what your vision problems entail.

Rochester Optical, a New York-based optical lens manufacturer, is the first to bring out prescription for Snapchat Spectacles. Rochester Global is the same company that launched prescription solutions for VR devices such as Microsoft HoloLens, Google Glass and Epson Moverio.

“We’ve been working with heads-up displays for a long time, and Spectacles are just a form of smart glasses without the heads-up-display. We already cut similar notches in lenses for Google Glass to accommodate the HUD, so cutting rounded notches in the lens corners to work around the Spectacle cameras is very similar,” says Patrick Go, CEO of Rochester Global.

A standard single vision lens start at $99. It does however vary on lens type and options. You can place an order on the online store of Rochester Optical.

The video-capturing Spectacles was launched last month for Snapchat’s 150 million active daily users. The $130 sunglass is capable of recording a short 10 to 30-second video clips that can be sent to a phone’s Snapchat app through WiFi or Bluetooth.

Spectacles’ camera uses a 115-degree-angle lens, wider than a typical smartphone’s. The video it records is circular. And for the record, it has a built-in battery for recharging.
