If you thought the next iPhone would be the Apple device without a physical button, you are in for a surprise. A new rumor positively claims Apple’s iPad might be the first to ditch the home button.
According to Makotakara, the upcoming 10.9-inch iPad will have a home button under the display glass, thereby keeping the physical button absent.
The report also claims that the upcoming iPad will be bezel-less, maintaining the same thickness as the last generation’s 9.7-inch model. The thickness is expanded to 7.5mm, which is the same as iPad Air.
The latest follows a similar report from Barclay’s which claims Apple will release three new iPads in March 2017.
“New iPads in March – Bezel-less – We expect the 9.7″ to move to a low-cost model, a refresh of the 12.9″ pro and a new 10.9″, which is likely the same physical size as the 9.7″ but with a borderless screen,” Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Christopher Hemmelgarn wrote.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also predicted a refresh next year, but said the screen will be of 10.5-inch. Kuo also noted that iPads with OLED screen technology would only be launched sometime in 2018 and not next year as some reports claimed.
