On Wednesday, Acer unveiled its newest gaming chair to the world and it was something straight out of a Sci-Fi movie. The fully immersive throne is truly fit for a king. However, you may also need to own a king-sized castle to house this 5 ft, 485 pound gaming beast. Practicality aside it does not disappoint.
The first thing that jumps out at you is the “menacing” two toned black finish and solid steel construction. It truly resembles the type of chair a super villain would sit in to destroy the planet.
Next, consumers will immediately notice the large overhead arch that mirrors a scorpions tail. This arch lowers over top of the player and supports up to three 27″ monitors. These monitors provide the gamer with an amazing panoramic viewing experience. The Predator Thronos really feels like it is taking the user on a journey into another world.
Acer’s has also integrated vibration and rumbling support, which can be linked up to in game action. This provides the player with the sensation that they are truly in the game.
For comfort, the Thronos is equipped with an adjustable foot rest and an ergonomic chair that reclines up to 140 degrees. For convenience, all of these functions are fully motorized through a built in control panel.
One major absence from the chair is an integrated speaker system. Without this, players will be forced to hook up their own or utilize a set of headphones.
Another small oversight is that there is little to no storage or even a cup holder. After hours of gaming, it would be nice to have a drink by your side but at this point we may be nitpicking.
With no official sale date or price, we can only assume that it will cost a small fortune. Although not practical for most, the chair is a gamer’s dream come true.
