The offering, which is called ‘Unplugged’, will feature on YouTube as a cheaper alternative to cable subscription. The bundle could be priced anywhere between $25 and $40 per month. The streaming TV service is clearly targeted at those who are yet to subscribe to traditional pay-TV and are looking for low cost alternatives.

Wall Street Journal reported that Fox and ABC as well are in talks to bring their channels on the web-TV platform. YouTube apparently is looking to sign up two or three cable networks before introducing Unplugged.

Google last year launched the YouTube Red which is also a subscription streaming service, allowing users to enjoy videos across all of YouTube without ads. Users get access to YouTube Red Originals series and movies from some of the platform’s biggest creators. YouTube Red subscription costs $10 for Android users.

Unplugged, however, would be Google’s first attempt at bringing cable TV channels on the web. The service will rival Dish’s SlingTV and PlayStation Vue as well as Hulu’s planned live TV offering.

Apple as well was rumored to be working a streaming TV service for early next year. However, the project appears to be shelved owing to negotiation difficulties with TV studios.
