Mi MIX is a high-grade ceramic smartphone: Price & features you should know

On Monday, Xiaomi had a surprise device alongside Mi Note 2. The Chinese smartphone maker unveiled a stunning concept smartphone Mi MIX, a 6.4-inch device made of ceramic and designed by French designer Philippe Starck.

Mi MIX is an edge-to-edge phablet that is powered by a Snapdragon 821 chipset with 4GB RAM and 128 GB storage. The battery will be of 4400 mAh capacity with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

The design, being the highlight, has no bezels or physical buttons. The edgeless display has a screen to body ratio of just over 91%. It also has a piezoelectric acoustic ceramic earpiece speaker as well as ultrasonic proximity sensor

For photo enthusiasts, the device boasts a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front shooter. Xiaomi claims its front camera is 50 per cent smaller than other front cameras.The dual-SIM phone supports GPS/ A-GPS, NFC with Mi Pay support, Bluetooth v4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac.

While the base model will sell for CNY 3,499 ($516), Xiaomi has a 6GB RAM/ 256GB storage variant for CNY 3,999 ($590). The high priced variant has gold rims around camera and fingerprint sensor.

Mi MIX will hit store shelves in China by November 4. We are not sure when the device will be available in other markets.
