If you loved the Xiaomi Mi Mix , here’s some music to your ears: Xiaomi Mi Mix is on the table and it’s looking even better!
Xiaomi Mi Mix garnered a lot of buyers and popularity when it was launched in October 2016. Later it made news when a white Mi Mix showed up at the Consumer Electronics Show in January but, sadly enough, those were restricted to Chinese markets. And now, images leaked on Weibo seem to suggest that a Mi Mix 2 is coming.
What’s new
From what it looks, the handset is lot similar to the Mi Mix but flaunts a dual camera on a ceramic backside, and the most stunning, a near-zero bezel design that almost isn’t there. Rumour had it the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will most probably have lesser bezel and a better screen to body ratio. Evidently from the latest leaked pics, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has a screen to body ratio of 93 percent which is greater than Mi Mix’s 91.3 percent.
If the reports are indeed true, then Mi Mix 2 will run Android Nougat 7.0 rather than Mi Mix’s Marshmallow.
Piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology
We’re all pretty used to earpieces on front. Xiaomi was the first one to think different. They didn’t want the earpiece to make up a chunk of the Mi Mix’s front face and thereby increase the bezel. But then you could not place the earpiece anywhere else either.
But Xiaomi is not the one to be hit by a challenge. They came up with piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology where the electric signal from Digital to Analog converter is fed into a piezoelectric ceramic that turns those electrical signals to mechanical vibrations. These vibrations, when transmitted through the mobile frame, makes the desired sound we need to hear from the earpiece.
What’s staying
The Xiaomi Mi Mix was a hit for a lot of right reasons. The 6.4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that can accommodate 16M colors was one of them and is probably here to stay. The fingerprint scanner is also expected to be retained to the Mi Mix 2, along with the ceramic body. Also, it is expected that the Xiaomi Mi Mix will also have the piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology which was hugely popular with Xiaomi Mi Mix users.
But whether the leaks on Weibo are true or not is something only time will reveal.
