Xiaomi Mi 5X: The top 5 highlights you should know

Xiaomi had introduced a trio of new things at their latest event. While two of those were the MIUI 9 OS and the Xiaomi Mi Speaker, the new Mi 5X is the package that will be hitting smartphone markets from August 1. Here are five unique features about the smartphone.

MIUI 9
The Mi 5X will be the first Xiaomi smartphone to feature the Android Nougat out of the box with MIUI 9. The new skin overlay is completely refined from its previous iterations, bringing the goodness of Nougat’s security and multi-window capabilities along with Xiaomi’s own new feature additions such as Smart Search, Image Search and Smart Launcher for better productivity and performance. Being the first phone of Xiaomi to come with MIUI 9 out of the box, it will also be one of the smoothest experiences on a Xiaomi, which the company is famously not very well known for.

Powerful internals
The phone comes with the powerful Snapdragon 625 chipset – the best chipset for its segment, that cuts just a little short of flagship-grade performance. Coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, the 2.0 GHz octa-core processor will fly on the Mi 5X. The phone also comes with a 3080mAh battery and a USB Type-C port.

Camera
The front-facing camera is a mere 5MP snapper, but the rear module is the something to talk about. It’s a dual-camera setup with two 12MP sensors attached. One of them has an f/2.2 aperture and the other is a telephoto lens with f/2,6 aperture. Needless to say, dual-camera setups are known for providing better profile shots and taking more clear photos compared to single-sensor cameras. It also comes with dual-tone LED flash

Amazing audio
If all of the above was not already enough, the phone also comes with its own dedicated amplifier for audio along with DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm that can improve the sound experience through a pair of headphones. It’s not every day that powerful music-oriented features come to mid-tier smartphones. It’s not like LG’s Quad DAC on its G6, but the extra attention to audio performance makes it better than its competitors.

Pricing
Finally, the icing on the cake, this phone comes in at just about $222 for all of the features mentioned above. Buyers will get dual-cameras, 64GB storage, 4GB of RAM, fingerprint sensor and great audio quality. Unfortunately, the phone won’t hit international markets immediately as the phone is going to be released only in China for now. At that price tag, this phone stands to be the best mid-ranger of the year.
