Xiaomi sure knows how to impress. It’s latest launch in India is a mammoth device that boasts a 6.44-inch IPS display with 1920x1080p resolution. The Mi Max 2, which was first unveiled in Beijing this May, carries a price tag of Rs 16,999 ($264).
A successor to the Mi Max, the new Mi Max 2 will go on sale in the country from July 27. Only limited pieces of the device will be up for grabs when the sale begins. But that is only till the hype is over as Xiaomi is also planning to sell on its own Mi store and Mi Home offline stores.
To go straight away to the impressive specs, in Mi Max 2 you have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, in addition to a massive 5,300 mAh battery. Xiaomi claims the battery can go on for two days easily with a single charge.
The Mi Max 2 weighs 211 grams and is 7.6mm slim. Under the hood, you can find a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Connectivity options include 4G with VoLTE, dual band WiFi ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS, USB Type-C port and hybrid dual SIM slot. Mi Max 2 runs on MIUI8, which is based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
Given that camera sensors play a huge role for hitting those sales figures, Xiaomi has not compromised in the department. You can find in Mi Max 2 a 12MP rear camera with f2.2 aperture, phase detection autofocus, 1.25 µm pixel size and dual LED flash. For selfies there is a 5MP sensor with f2.0 aperture.
Xiaomi is the second largest smartphone brand in India. It’s success is attributed to the aggressive marketing strategies and regular releases that are feature-rich and budget-friendly.
