Xiaomi Chiron GFXBench listing shows Snapdragon 835, 16.5:9 screen ratio

There is a new Xiaomi flagship headed out way, if the latest GFXBench listing is to be believed. The Chinese smartphone maker has been churning out winners lately in the smartphone segment, with both the middle segment and the flagship segment seeing impressive additions, courtesy Xiaomi’s Mi A1 and the new Mi Mix 2. This time around, the company’s newest potential offering could also be its greatest yet, based on the specifications.

According to GSM Arena, based on the listing on GFXBench, the codename of the device was kept Chiron. It supposedly will feature a 5.6-inch screen with a peculiar 16.5:9 aspect ratio. While the last flagship phone of Xiaomi featured a 2K display, Xiaomi is sticking to the basics by adding a 1080p display this time. The Chiron will be a powerhouse of a phone, as it is speculated to feature the Snapdragon 835 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM and in-built storage of 256GB. Rumours claim that the Chiron could in fact be the Xiaomi Mi Note 3.

The Chiron was first expected to be the Mi Mix 2, but it seems that Xiaomi has different plans for this particular model. It cannot be ascertained for sure whether the Chiron will feature dual-SIM capabilities just yet, as the benchmarking tool is unable recognize dual-SIMs just yet. This smartphone, according to the listing, also claims to come with a 12MP camera on the back, while the 5MP selfie camera sits on the top bezel of the smartphone upfront. The primary camera unit comes with a flash unit along with auto-focus, HDR and face detection. There is also 4K video recording on-board, among the other bells and whistles that are known to come on a flagship device like this.

According to the listing, Chiron will lack NFC capabilities that are common-place in smartphones nowadays and are used for payments on the go. While some have already speculated that this phone could be the Mi Note 3, other rumors indicate that the phone could be the Mi 6 Plus. Considering the smartphone does not feature a dual-camera setup and comes with a 1080p display apart from the lack of NFC, it is safe to say that the phone will be placed lower than the Mi Mix 2, which is currently the most impressive smartphone that the company has ever made. But this also means that the phone could be a good proposition for a smartphone on a budget, much like the OnePlus 5, which is perfect competition for the Chiron.
