Verizon exclusive ZenFone V with 23MP camera, SD 820 and 4GB announced by Asus

Asus has been continuously adding to its line of ZenFone 4 smartphones so far. The company has now decided to take a break from that series and moved on to a releasing something a little more premium as it has just released the new ZenFone V smartphone.

The new Asus ZenFone V will be exclusive only to Verizon in the US only. This exclusive from Asus is the most promising offering from Asus so far in the premium segment, but is not as powerful or high-end as the latest flagships out there, such as the Galaxy Note 8 and the V30. Asus has not been one to release exclusive models to countries or carriers of late and this move, although uncharacteristic of the company, may win over customers in the US.

The phone comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p AMOLED display, which should be enough to satiate the needs of the average smartphone user. The phone will also be powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor, which, although still outdated by a year now, should still perform decently as it can still compare to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and the LG G5. The phone also comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with expandable storage via microSD up to 256GB. The quietly launched Verizon exclusive also comes with a 23MP Sony IMX318 sensor which has an aperture of f/2.0 along with electronic image stabilization. The camera also comes with Asus’s TriTech technology that combines laser, phase-detection and subject tracking auto-focus all into a single system to allow for the camera to focus in just 0.03 seconds. On the front is an 8MP snapper.

If reports are to be believed, the smartphone will also come with a 3,000mAh battery unit equipped with fast charging. Asus claims that in only 40 minutes, the phone can be charged all the way up to 60 percent. The phone also comes with a fingerprint scanner as well as the NXP Smart AMP for superior audio quality. The phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and like all Asus phones, also has Zen UI atop. As mentioned previously, the smartphone will be available only and sold exclusively via Verizon through the carrier’s website and will be sold for the price of $384.

The company has not provided an exact time frame for when the phone will be announced, but says it will be coming soon, hopefully within the coming weeks.
