TorrentHound succumbs to pressure, shuts down abruptly

Just weeks after the shut down of KickassTorrents and Torrentz.eu, another popular file sharing site has been closed down, succumbing to the increasing pressure from corporations and government agencies.

“It’s a combination of less traffic, less revenue and our bills piling up. Then add on constantly getting bugged by anti piracy agents, just wasn’t worth the headache anymore,” the site’s founder informed Torrent Freak in a short message.

TorrentHound, which was launched in 2007, boasted of several millions of visitors each month. However, after the closure of KickassTorrents and Torrentz.eu, the website seemingly was facing immense legal pressure.

The shutting down of TorrentHound makes plain the fact that fight against piracy is winning. All the three biggest names The Pirate Bay, Torrentz and KickAss Torrents were shut down owing to legal threats and intense pressure from big names in the entertainment industry.

In July, US authorities seized the domain of Kickass Torrents and arrested the founder. The site regularly moved to different domains, but eventually they were discovered and blocked. The domains included kickasstorrents.com, kastatic.com, thekat.tv, kat.cr, kickass.to, kat.ph and kickass.cr.

Before being shut down, the site was ranked the 69th most-visited site on the Internet.
