The macOS Sierra has gone through multiple rounds of beta testing already, with the seventh beta just released. Here’s all you need to know about Mac’s newest OS.
Apple rolls out macOS Sierra developer beta 7 & public beta 6
The biggest update that Sierra brings to Mac is Siri. Now that it’s been integrated into the macOS, voice search will be just as good as it is on the iPhone. ‘Auto Unlock’ is another nifty feature that allows a Mac to be unlocked by another Apple device – like the Apple Watch. It also will have a ‘Universal Clipboard’ which can copy and paste information from multiple devices, all from the same clipboard.
Other new features will include Apple Pay, which will enable the user to make authenticated payments from their iPhone or Apple Watch. iCloud is going to be given an upgrade as well, allowing users to access files stored on their desktop across all their Apple devices.
Photos will also come with a better algorithm for superior facial, object and scene recognition. Memories will be an additional feature to display photo collections. Messages has rich links, bigger emoji, and ‘Tapback’ for response.
Users will also get a neat picture-in-picture functionality for multi-tasking apart from smaller new features like revamped emoji and optimized storage.
Sierra was first unveiled at the 2016 Worldwide Developers Conference and teased a ton of new features that would come into fruition in finer build. In the rate at which the beta builds are being tested, the final version will not disappoint.
The update can be downloaded through the Software Update Mechanism in the Mac App Store and the full release should be made available in the Fall.
