The two new budget handsets from Motorola, the Moto G5S and the Moto G5S Plus have been officially released by the company and feature a few new features that will make them a solid competitor in the mid-range segment. Here are the duo’s top five features
Displays
The two phones feature slightly better displays than their predecessors – the G5 and the G5 Plus. The G5S includes a 1080p 5.2-inch panel while the G5S Plus features a 5.5-inch 1080p panel. The mid-rangers also have a fingerprint scanner/home button located just below the display as well.
Internals
The Moto G5S will come with the Snapdragon 430 Octa-core processor, clocked at 1.4GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, expandable via a hybrid microSD slot for storage up to 128GB. The G5S Plus on the other hand, features the Snapdragon 625 which is also an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.0GHz coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Both phones feature 3,000mAh batteries and Android Nougat 7.1.1 out of the box.
Body
Both phones come with metal unibody chassis, making them resilient despite having a slim form-factor. They are not water-proof, but the phones come in attractive colors such as Pink, Grey and Gold.
Cameras
The cameras are the biggest feature on the two phones. The G5S comes with a rear 16MP snapper with LED flash. The camera boasts an f/2.0 aperture and can record video up to 1080p. On the front is a 5MP sensor and is also an f/2.0 lens. Motorola has also added a front-facing LED flash for those dark selfies as well. As for the Moto G5S Plus, the optics on the rear offer a dual-camera setup with an LED flash featuring two 13MP sensors placed horizontally which are configured at f/2.0 apertures. With the dual camera, users will able to take better portrait photos and shoot 4K video as well. The front facing camera is now an 8MP snapper with an f/2.2 aperture lens.
