Srt.phone confirmed to have Snapdragon 652, 4GB RAM; will launch tomorrow

Indian smartphone maker Smartron will be launching the srt.phone tomorrow, May 3. The “srt” bears the initials of popular Indian cricketer Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.

The Sachin-branded smartphone will be a Flipkart exclusive and is the successor to the t.phone that the company launched in 2016. Smartron claims the srt.phone is the first device designed, engineered and made in India.

As for the specifics, the device is expected to feature a 5.5-inch full HD display and a Snapdragon 652 SoC paired with 4GB RAM. It will be backed by a 3,000 mAh battery and will run on Android 7.0 operating system.

For pictures, the srt.phone is fitted with a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front shooter. Speculations have it that the device will be priced around or less than Rs 15,000 ($233).

Smartron has sought to make inroads in the highly competitive smartphone marketplace in India. It is to be seen if batting legend Sachin can provide the much-needed impetus and value addition.
