Sony’s flagship device Xperia XZ is expected to hit store shelves in the U.S. on October 2.
Though the pre-order for the device began in markets such as Taiwan, Sony was yet to schedule a release for those in the States. A press note that was picked up by folks at Android Central informed that the unlocked Xperia XZ can be purchased through leading retailers, including Amazon and Best Buy, for $699.
Along with Xperia XZ, Sony has also made the Xperia X Compact available for a price tag of $499. The latter will be displayed at stores starting September 25. Both the devices are latest additions to the Xperia X portfolio. The dust and water resistant models were first announced at the IFA 2016 in Berlin.
The Sony Xperia XZ has a 5.2-inch Corning Gorilla Glass 4 Full HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip and 3GB RAM. Storage options include 32 GB or 64 GB and supports microSD cards. The highlight of the phone is its 28MP camera that comes with triple image sensing technology. For selfies, the device has a 13MP snapper with 90-degree wide angle.
It further comes with an updated stereo dual microphone system with integrated noise cancellation, a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C on board. And with a decent of 2,700mAh, the device should run an entire day.
The Xperia X Compact is for those needing a more compact and affordable smartphone. Though close in specs,the device has a smaller 4.6-inch Corning Gorilla Glass 4 HD display. Under the hood, you have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chip coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. On the camera front, it has the same 23MP rear camera as Xperia XZ. The front camera on the device is a 5MP shooter.
