An unannounced Samsung device with the model number SM-Z400F has passed through the FCC certification. The FCC listing does not shed light on the name of the device or the core features, however it hinted at the Samsung Z4.
The Z4 measures 132.9 x 69.2 mm and will be a successor of the Tizen-based Samsung Z3 that launched in October 2015.
Samsung Z2 launched last year with a 4-inch WVGA screen
Samsung Z3 sported a 5-inch screen with 720 pixels by 1280 pixels resolution. It was powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC7730S processor paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage (expandable to 128GB).
It was also equipped with an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front shooter. Weighing 137 grams, the device was powered by a 2,600 mAh battery. It was a dual SIM phone as well.
The upcoming Z4 also should be a dual-SIM phone and will be running Tizen OS 3.0 version. Besides the aforesaid, there are faint details on the hardware. But judging by the specifics we have, it appears a simple upgrade, nothing big to impress.
Also, though the Z4 succeeds Z3, if you recall Samsung had launched the Z2 after the Z3. The naming order does appear erratic. Samsung Z2 launched in August, 2016 and was the first 4G-enabled Tizen-powered phone.
It packed a 4-inch WVGA screen and was powered by a 1.5GHz Quad-core processor, coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB memory expandable up to 128GB. It had a 5MP rear camera and a VGA resolution module as the front facing camera. The Z2 retailed at $70.
