Samsung is confirmed to launch its flagship Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in India on April 19.
The premium devices were first unveiled at an event in New York on March 29. The two phones are only differentiated by their screen size and battery capacity.
Like the global availability of the two variants, in India as well Samsung will be launching the S8 as well as S8+. The launch is scheduled to take place in New Delhi at 12PM IST.
Tomorrow’s launch comes two days before the international launch that is to take place on April 21. In India, the S8 should be priced tentatively around Rs 58,000 ($900) while the S8+ should be close to Rs 65,000 ($1008).
For the uninitiated, the Galaxy S8 comes in at 5.8-inches while the Galaxy S8+ sports a 6.2-inch display with 1,440×2,960p resolution. Both the devices feature new bezel-less curved edge Infinity display and Samsung’s Bixby digital assistant.
While in the US, the Galaxy S8 is powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, those in India will get a Samsung Exynos 8895 processor, built using the latest 10nm processor.
Both the phones come with 4GB RAM and run Android 7.0 Nougat. They also feature 64GB of internal memory which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card slot.
Coming to the optics, the primary camera on Galaxy S8 and S8+ consists of a 12MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilisation (OIS). There is also an 8MP front shooter with f/1.7 aperture and autofocus.
Galaxy S8 comes with a 3,000 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S8 Plus is fitted with 3,500 mAh battery pack. The device is expected to be available in Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue and Maple Gold at launch.
