When Samsung launched the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, it didn’t come equipped with the same processor. For some regions there was the Exynos 8 SoC and for others it was Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820. It appears the Galaxy S8 too will follow a similar route
On Friday, Samsung teased an Exynos processor, with the tagline “Discover cloud 9 with Exynos”, hinting at the Exynos 9. It doesn’t mention when it will be released or other highlights.
The Exynos 9 will be a new series of Samsung’s chipset that would be manufactured on a 10nm process in-house. The usage of 10nm technology will make the S8 models run 11 per cent faster than the Galaxy S7 overall.
Samsung will be launching the hotly anticipated Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, any time soon. Some rumors suggest the release date to be March 29, but there is no official announcement as yet.
With the MWC coming this month end, Samsung no doubt will be the formidable contender in the smartphone wars. However, it will all depend on what it brings to the table. After the humiliating fiasco over its ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, all attention is now on the Galaxy S8.
Endless rumors have suggested that the Galaxy S8 would be the first to feature Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 835 processor. As mentioned earlier, Samsung would be using both Exynos and Snapdragon for its models.
The Galaxy S8 could pack a 5.8-inch display, 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage (expandable to 256GB using a microSD card). For pictures, the Galaxy S8 will reportedly come with a 12MP rear sensor and an 8MP front sensor.
The phone will also come with the iris-scanner biometric technology and Samsung’s new AI personal assistant called Bixby. If the launch will take place on March 29, you can expect the device to hit retail shelves by end of April.
