Samsung Galaxy S8 Active to be made official soon?

Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone maker, is planning to out a new handset any time soon. The device will be the Active version of the widely-accepted Galaxy S8. Up until now, we only knew the device through the model number G892A. An entry on the website officially now confirms the existence of the device.

The rugged device will be an AT&T exclusive and hence may also come with the telecom giant’s apps. It should not come as a surprise as the older Active models also were launched in partnership with AT&T. An image of the alleged device that was spotted last month confirms that the Galaxy S8 Active will resemble the LG G6 than the Galaxy S8 as its screen may have rounded corners and not a curved display. The phone will come with dust and water resistant capability.

To recall, the Galaxy S7 Active was launched in June last year. Could it be that Samsung will launch the S8 Active this month? We can be sure of this in few days. Meanwhile, reports speculate that the Galaxy S8 will come with a 5.8-inch display in order to match the regular S8 screen size. The other specifications include a RAM of 4GB, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and an impressive battery capacity of 4000 mAh. The S8 Active will be drop-proof from the heights of 5 feet or 1.5 meters as its predecessors.

Other rumors earlier indicated that the device will come with similar touch buttons as the standard variant, possibly to keep the bezels to a minimum. The Galaxy S8 Active may not be coming with many of the signature features of the Galaxy S8, which include the Infinity Display and curved edges. The Active device may have a bulkier design, but it may be for the rugged performance of the device.
