Samsung Galaxy Note 8 hits stores with a price tag of $929

One of the biggest smartphone launches of the season has just hit store shelves. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has just been released to over 42 countries the world over. While this will be the second Note phone to be launched by the company this year and the first time two Galaxy Notes have been on sale in the same year.

Some of the major regions receiving the Note 8 are the United States, Canada, Singapore, Korea and Europe. While these markets will be receiving the Galaxy Note 8, Samsung will also be looking to release its newest product to more markets as well in the coming weeks. In fact, the Note 8 has already started receiving its first update after release that was meant to improve the camera’s stability, improved wireless charging and overall performance as well.

The phablet has broken pre-order sales in the US and abroad already and through pre-orders alone, the company has sold over 650,000 phones in its first five days of pre-sales alone. The phone will be made available through retail as well as multiple other carriers such as AT&T, C Spire, Sprint, Straight Talk Wireless, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Best Buy stores, Target, Walmart and through Samsung itself via its website and Shop Samsung app. While there has been some debate over whether this is the phone to be considered over the S8 Plus, but that will be subject to buyers’ preferences. The Note 8’s biggest feature is its dual camera setup that offers superior focus and depth of field, compared to its S8 siblings.

The unlocked version of the Note 8 will cost $929. The Note 8 will be available only in a 64GB version in the US, in either black or grey. It hasn’t been confirmed exactly what variants the other regions will be getting, however. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus pre-orders open today as well, and while the Note 8’s pre-sales may have broken records, the new iPhones may get close to that number as well. To soften the blow of that hefty price, carriers are offering monthly installments to as low as $30 from T-Mobile, with a down payment of $210.

Right now, the best and most functional Android offering in the market, the Note 8 could steal the “phone of the year” award for 2017, if things go well for Samsung.
