Samsung has been planning to release a refurbished version of the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7. The device has already received major certifications, including the FCC.
Besides FCC, another major certification devices receive is from the Bluetooth SIG, the industry body that oversees the development of Bluetooth. The Galaxy Note 7R with model number SM-N935F has now received the Bluetooth SIG certification, reinforcing the assumption that the launch is right around the corner.
When it launches, the Note 7R will sport a 5.7-inch 2K AMOLED display and will be powered by the Exynos 8890 Octa-core processor coupled with 4 GB RAM and 64GB storage.
The Note 7R will be equipped with a 12MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and a 5 megapixel front camera. The battery will be of 3,200 mAh and not the original 3,500 mAh that was on the device before it was recalled. There are also rumors that Samsung will be bringing a 3,500 mAh battery setup for some markets. The 3,200 mAh battery variant will be reportedly sold in the US, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
More than four million Note 7 devices were recalled after a series of fires last year. The new Galaxy S8 did help Samsung to move past the debacle of its exploding Galaxy Note 7 phones, but the refurbished version of the Note 7 will recoup some losses from the Note 7.
The new Note 7R will be sold in four different color options – Blue Coral, Black, White, and Silver. South Korea will be the first market to receive this device. Meanwhile, there are contradicting reports on the price. The Note 7R some reports state will be sold at half the price of the original. Apparently, the device is already selling in China for a price range of CNY 3,599-3,999. We will be able to confirm the price and availability only after the official launch.
